Hi Everyone,

I just got back from Denver, were I was participating in the Biennial of the Americas. My work is showning at the Plus Gallery with four other amazing Canadian Artist. Here are some pictures of my adventure. The show was co-sponsored by the Canadian Consulate General and Suncor Energy, and was curated by the gallery director Ivar Zeile.

The work will be there till the end of August. I hope you can make it out to see the show, while the work is in the US of A.

Sometimes a composition will take me longer to resolve than others. This resent piece has been kicking my butt. That being said, here are a few pics from my wrestling match with the latest Manga Ormolu.

Being hit up with some under-glazes. They seem harmless, right?

Alberta Bound

Hi There

I just got back from a week long trip in Alberta. I went there for the setup and opening reception of the Manga Ormolu work at the Southern Alberta Art Gallery. Below are a few pics of the installation.

While I was in the Wild Rose Province, I also made a pilgrimage to Canada’s best kept secret Medalta.

Medalta is a historic clay site, where they use to make all of the ceramic for Canada, back in the day when we would produce our own products. While I was there I got a tour of the old Factory and the Brand New Residency. I was totally impressed with their setup! A Dream Studio for any artist, Ceramic or otherwise.

While I was in Lethbridge, I had a total random run in with Stuart McLean, and being the CBC nerd that I am, I got a picture with him

Hello Everyone,

January has been an exciting month so far. As you saw earlier, I have been busy in the studio. I’ve been busy outside the studio too, hitting the open road a couple of times this month.

The first adventure was the opening at the Gallery Jones, in Vancouver. This show was a double bonus as it was my first time showing with Gallery Jones as well as my first time showing with Dirk Staschke. I have been a big fan Dirk’s for a while and it was an honor to be showing with him. I think our mutual interests in the decorative arts lead to a very cool show… if I do say so myself.

My second adventure outside the dusty studio was to the Paris of the Prairies, Saskatoon. I went there to help install and participate in the opening of the final stop of the Sugar Bombs show, at the Mendel Art Gallery. This trip was a total blast as I got to see my co-Sugar Bombers Kristen Lambertson and Diyan Achjadi, as well as Jen Budney and her amazing Family and the ceramic blog-a-nista Carole Epp! And the buck did not stop there. The staff that I met at the Mendel were truly amazing. I even got to rub elbows with artist like Marie Lannoo, Ed Pien and Clint Neufled. As you can imagine I am still vibrating from this experience.

Hello Everyone,

I just got back from the opening event and panel discussion at the Power Plant Gallery in Toronto. It was yet another amazing trip where I got to meet a ton of people and peers.

Bellow I have posted some images of the setup. I do hope you get a chance to see the show in person (it is up until March 7th), as the photos don’t do this sculpture show justice.

I also included 2 images of my trip to the Gardiner Museum. I was fortunate enough to check out the collection in the basement, and take some snaps. On a similar note, if you get a chance to see the Viola Frey show, see it.

I wanted to introduce the plate form to my Manga Ormolu series for a while. I have only completed one of the plates, which will be at the Power Plant Gallery this Dec. The other 2, I am working on my china paint skills. Bye for now.
